Privacy Policy
This explains what AnswerLens (“we”) collects, why, and your rights. We’ve kept it plain. This is a working draft — have a lawyer review it for your jurisdiction before relying on it.
Who we are
AnswerLens is an AI brand-visibility audit tool for agencies, operated at answerlens.in. For privacy questions or requests, contact privacy@answerlens.in.
What we collect
Account data — your email, optional name, and an encrypted password (managed by our auth provider). We never see your password in plain text.
Workspace & client data — the brands, domains, industries, competitors, and descriptions you add for your clients so we can run audits.
Audit data — the buyer-intent prompts we generate, the AI engines’ answers, citations, and the scores and recommendations we compute.
Billing data — handled by our merchant of record (Polar). We receive your plan, subscription status, and billing email; we do not store full card details.
Technical data — IP address (used to rate-limit abuse), request logs, and essential cookies that keep you signed in.
How we use it
To provide and secure the service: run audits, render reports, manage your subscription, prevent abuse, and provide support. We may analyze aggregated, de-identified usage to improve the product. We do not sell your data or use it to train AI models.
AI engines & sub-processors
To run an audit, the prompts (which contain the brand and competitor names you enter) are sent to third-party AI APIs — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity — and a licensed SERP provider, to retrieve their answers. We query official APIs only and never scrape consumer apps. The full list of services that process data on our behalf is on our Sub-processors page.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only — to keep you signed in and protect against CSRF. We don’t use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. If we add optional analytics in future, we’ll ask for your consent first.
Storage & retention
Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure (see Sub-processors). We keep your account, workspace, and audit data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, which permanently removes your workspace, clients, and audits. We may retain limited records required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update your profile and delete your account in Settings, or email us. Our lawful bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service, and consent where required.
International transfers & security
Our providers process data primarily in the United States; we rely on their standard contractual safeguards for international transfers. We protect data with encryption in transit, row-level tenant isolation, and least-privilege access. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes & contact
We’ll update the date above when this policy changes and notify customers of material changes. Questions, requests, or a copy of our DPA: privacy@answerlens.in. See also our Terms and Sub-processors.
